2. General Information
Magic Stats is a locally operated application for managing and statistically analyzing Magic: The Gathering playgroups, decks, and games. The app stores all data you enter exclusively locally on your device in an SQLite database. There is no user account, no registration, no sign-in, and no synchronization with a server operated by the controller. The controller never has access to the data stored in the app.
3. What data is processed?
3.1 Locally Stored Data
Within the app, you optionally enter the following data, which is stored exclusively locally on your device:
- Names of playgroups and players (freely chosen, e.g. nicknames)
- Deck information (deck name, associated cards, commander, etc.)
- Game history and results (matches, standings, scores)
- Backup files you optionally import or export (export/import feature)
This data never leaves your device unless you actively export it yourself (e.g. to share it by email or import it on another device). Sharing it is entirely your own responsibility.
3.2 Card Search (Scryfall API)
For card search and card details, the app uses the free, public interface of the third-party provider Scryfall (scryfall.com). This transmits search queries (e.g. card name) as well as, for technical reasons, your IP address to Scryfall's servers – this is technically necessary for every network request on the internet. The controller has no influence over, and no access to, this processing by Scryfall. None of your personal data stored in the app (player names, decks, results) is transmitted to Scryfall – only the respective card search query. 3.3 No Analytics or Tracking Services
The app uses no analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs (e.g. Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, the Meta/Facebook SDK, ad networks). No usage profiles are created. No cookies or comparable technologies are used for tracking purposes.
3.4 Theme Setting on This Website
This website stores your choice between light and dark color scheme in your browser's localStorage. This information never leaves your browser, is not transmitted to the controller, and is used solely to display the website in your preferred appearance on a future visit.
3.5 App Store / Play Store Operators
When downloading and updating the app via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, Apple or Google independently process personal data (e.g. payment/device information) that the controller has no access to. The respective privacy notices of Apple and Google apply.
4. Purposes and Legal Basis for Processing
The local storage of your entries occurs solely to provide you with the app's core functionality (managing groups, decks, games, and statistics). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract, or pre-contractual measures taken at your request through use of the app) and, to the extent technically necessary, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a functioning app, e.g. network requests to Scryfall).
5. Retention Period
Your data remains locally on your device until you delete it within the app or uninstall the app. The controller has no way to access or remotely delete this data, since no server-side storage takes place.
6. Your Rights
Since no personal data is transmitted to or stored by the controller, most data-subject rights (access, rectification, erasure) are technically already moot, as they're effectively already fulfilled by the app itself or by uninstalling it. If you nevertheless have questions about data protection or want to contact the controller, you can reach out by email at any time at [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).
7. Voluntary Nature of the Information Provided
Using the app and entering player, deck, and game data is voluntary. Without entering the corresponding data, the app's functionality is limited accordingly.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This privacy policy may be updated to reflect changed legal requirements or changes to the app's functionality. The version currently published on this page or within the app always applies.
